On July 8, 2010 I went to a youth led forum on education with a large group from VOYCE and two other Chicago youth organizations that work on having a better public education, Enlace and Mikva Challenge. There we talked to Alberto Retana the director of community outreach for the Department of Education. Alberto was proud of hearing what the youth had to say. He was amazed how youth can work hard to make change in education all around the city and was pleased to spread our message around the country. Also Alberto got to know the youth a little bit more from the discussions we had. I also had a great time participating in the agenda VOYCE had planned for the day. |
